Madness in March!

starling2 copyNo, not basketball’s March Madness. Sorry to disappoint some of you.

And no, I am not going mad. Sorry to surprise some of you……

But….. March does make me want to do crazy things. Especially this year with the endless, bone chilling, dreary, winter days we have had.

Spring fever is aptly named. I feel the sizzle beginning.

How do we embrace the virtues of spring? Here are a few crazy things I challenge you to do to unleash that feverish feeling, in a healthy way.

heartdot on white2 Get outside, now! Hardly a challenge. But when you do, breathe in deeply. Let your breath reach all the way to your brittle, creaky, winter-weary bones. Go out in the spring rain. Breathe in the earthy scent of new spring growth.

heartdot on white2 Find some alone time and scream! Really. I told you I am not mad. This practice has far reaching emotional and physical benefits. Unleash the pent up, stubborn, negative, dreary wintery thoughts that linger. In so doing, you will empty yourself for the newness of spring. Please warn your neighbors!

heartdot on white2Pick up a dust cloth and dust your family photos. Strange challenge, I know. Dusting is not my favorite chore, as my family can attest. Here is a new twist on spring cleaning. As you are dusting, pause, and look at each photo with intent. It will inevitably take you down memory lane. Relish in these sweet memories and make a promise to offer new and positive energy to these relationships this spring.

Time to defrost. March in to spring with conviction!

What are your spring cleaning (in all areas, both home and health) tips?

  1. I love to go through my winter clothes. Anything I didn’t wear this season, goes!!

Hmmm….where can I go in NYC to scream?!

    • Yes, screaming in NYC is tricky! But then again….maybe with all the other noise it won’t be noticed?! Or maybe the top of your building on the roof? Try and and see..your super may have an issue though!

  2. I love to dust photos! It’s like you are letting the person shine right through the glass into your soul. I may try the screaming but not so sure. Sounds like it would hurt my voice but might be worth it. Certainly a neat idea–to use screaming as a happy, positive activity. Never thought of that!

    • You can do gentle screaming, Barbara! Just to your comfort level. Try it and let me know. It really is powerful! We have good and stressful things to scream about and it helps for both. You can sort of invision Tarzan! 🙂
So nice you like to dust!
