As the lyrics go ‘Tis the season to be jolly!
I love the word jolly.
Not sure why except that…well…..it is just a jolly sort of word!
Or maybe it is because I love the way the British use it….Have a jolly good day!
According to the dictionary, the synonyms for jolly are: cheerful, happy, cheery, good-humored, jovial, merry, sunny, joyful, joyous, lighthearted, in high spirits, bubbly, exuberant, ebullient, gleeful, mirthful, genial, affable, fun-loving, chirpy, perky, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed…….
Of all the suggestions I like jolly the best. Jolly is much more cheerful than mirthful, in my opinion. Mirthful is a mouthful.
This holiday season I wish for jolly to enter your heart and for jolly to spread like green frosting on a sugar cookie.
Unplug, slow down, chill, and let the jolly take over. Be present with your friends and family and relish this universal time of gathering to celebrate all that is important.
Peace to you this holiday season.
Wishing it to be simply celebrated and simply JOLLY!
May the jolly bring you joy!
