My Personal Retreat.

A hammock, a creek, and the woods.

In September, I went on a personal retreat. Not a silent retreat, but a quiet retreat.

The hammock, the creek, and the woods was a healthy recipe for me.

It was a time of quiet contemplation. It was a place of refuge. It was an intentional quest for replenishment.

What I gained was stillness, time for emptying out, and the opportunity to just become aware of each feeling as it surfaced.

Like gently touching a feather to a bubble, I let each feeling go.

Feelings flowed like the creek beside me. They stumbled over rocks and sticks, were redirected, created ripples, but then …..on down the creek they went, regardless.

If I found a feeling caught up in a leaf jam, I gave it a few minutes and then I gently pushed it on down my mental stream.

During these few days of personal refuge, there were no other goals except to just be.

When I first arrived, they told me I only needed to remember 3 things: what time lunch is served, what time dinner is served, and my room number.

Imagine that.

I highly recommend it. Solitude, quiet, and stillness.

Afterall, health is not just about the food you consume.

Peace to you.
