In the Dead of Winter….

And don’t think the garden loses its ecstasy in winter. It’s quiet, but the roots are down there riotous. ~ Rumi

There is beauty in the starkness of winter.

The roots are still gathering nutrients and water and resting in a most vigorous way.

Have you rested enough this winter?
Have you read plenty of spellbinding novels?
Have you spent time being still?
Have you laughed and played with friends?

Have you taken long walks in the cold outdoors?
Have you seen all the movies you want to see?
Have you fed your body plenty of chili and cornbread and other warm winter foods?

Have you nourished your mind, body and soul?
Have you weeded and pruned and gathered all your old thoughts and habits and composted them?

Have you made a fresh new plan for spring?

I see early signs of green peeking through the damp soil and new flower buds effortlessly taking shape.

Be ready to say hello to spring.

Let the last vestiges of winter urge you forward in a most riotous way!

  1. A beautiful reflection on this period in nature’s seasons, Judy. So like the seasons of human life which we reflect on increasingly as we age or when faced with the loss of a loved one. Thank you…
